ADULT LEARNING CENTER SERVICES & PROGRAMS
NEON’s Adult Learning Center (ALC) provides low-income and
economically vulnerable families with a variety of different social,
educational and employment related services and programs. The
Adult Learning Center is open to the general low-income population
for job search and resume development assistance (at no cost)—and
many of Norwalk’s economically vulnerable residents turn to the ALC
simply for advice, information, and advocacy.
State Appropriated General Assistance (SAGA) - Provides case
management, counseling, referral, and medical transportation
assistance to recipients of SAGA.
Individual Development Accounts (IDA) - Assists individuals in
opening a savings account and overseeing that monthly deposits are
being made. The IDA program offers Economic Literacy, Asset-
Specific Training, and a Monthly Savings Club to assist program
participants with any problems that may arise during the savings
process.
Career Resources, Inc./SW CTWorks One Stop: The Adult Learning
Center is now home to our region’s TFA Case Management entity,
Career Resources, Inc. Career Resources is also our Region’s One
Stop operator.
Southwestern Connecticut’s Regional CTWorks (DOL) in order to
provide space and classrooms for workshops.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been established
between NEON and the Department of Social Services (DSS) to
provide a dedicated staff person as the Intake Services Liaison in order
to serve the disabled Norwalk area.
